Prosper Narteh Ogum: Asante Kotoko coach calls for structural changes in 2024/25 season

Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum has urged the club to embark on significant structural changes for the 2024/25 season.

After completing the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League in 6th position with 49 points, the Reds are focused on rebuilding for the upcoming campaign, hence the departures of 18 players.

Asante Kotoko parts ways with 11 players after 2023/24 season

Long-serving player Ibrahim Danlad, winger Isaac Oppong and Ivorian midfielder Serge Eric Zeze have all departed the club.

Ogum admits errors must be fixed and a stronger structural plan is important.

“It was an unpleasant season. We couldn’t achieve what we wanted in terms of performance on the pitch. I think we fell below expectations,” he stated on the club’s channel.

He pointed out that the disappointing results at Baba Yara Stadium were particularly detrimental.

“The joy of the fans is at Baba Yara because when you win, the fans become excited, and because we couldn’t win, it made everything unpleasant.”

Touching on the exit of the 18 players highlighted the need for the post-season action.

“We need to do a lot of structural changes in the playing body concerning signing some players to augment [the squad]. This time not players from lower division but players who have seen it in the Premier League,” Ogum emphasised.

He highlighted the urgency of these changes, adding, “We need to go there as early as possible to make sure that the players that we want, we can get them as quickly as possible.”

Ogum’s vision is clear: to bring in seasoned Premier League players who can immediately contribute to the team’s success.

Asante Kotoko failed to win a trophy in the 2023/24 season and in the next campaign, Ogum and his lads must achieve success.
