Cagliari’s Ghanaian midfielder, Ibrahim Sulemana, delivered a critical performance on Monday, scoring an equalizer against his former team, Hellas Verona, in a thrilling Serie A encounter.
Coming off the bench, Sulemana’s impact was immediate, marking his second goal of the season in what was his first game appearance in over a month.
The 20-year-old was substituted in by Claudio Ranieri for Alessandro Deiola, as Cagliari was looking to overturn a deficit at their home ground, the Unipol Domus Stadium, during the 30th round of Serie A action.
Hellas Verona had taken the lead through Frederico Bonazzoli 30 minutes into the game, with another goal disallowed shortly after halftime.
Sulemana’s entrance into the game was game-changing, as he swiftly found the back of the net with a stunning finish from a rebound, bringing the score to a 1-1 draw.
Despite opportunities from both sides, the scoreline remained unchanged till the final whistle.
Having now appeared in 14 Serie A matches this season, starting 11 and scoring twice, Sulemana has proven to be a valuable asset for Cagliari since his summer transfer from Hellas Verona, following Cagliari’s ascent to Italy’s premier football league.
