#FootyTransfers: Ghanaian talent Rufai Mohammed joins IF Elfsborg from Inter Allies

Swedish top-tier side IF Elfsborg has expanded its Ghanaian contingent with the signing of towering centre-back Rufai Mohammed from Inter Allies, the club confirmed on Tuesday.

Mohammed’s arrival at the Boras Arena adds to the growing list of Ghanaian talent in the team, following the impactful performances of midfielder Michael Baidoo.

Mohammed, who has signed a contract of four years until the 2028 season, joins Elfsborg after an impressive stint with Inter Allies in the Ghanaian second division, where his development was closely monitored by the Swedish club’s scouting network.

His transfer is seen as a strategic move to bolster Elfsborg’s defensive lineup in their quest for domestic and European success.

“We are delighted to announce that our centre-back Rufai Mohammed has completed a move to Swedish Allsvenskan side IF Elfsborg,” said a statement from Inter Allies.

The club expressed its pride in Mohammed’s growth and extended its best wishes for his future endeavors in Sweden.

“We’re incredibly proud of his development and wish him all the best in this exciting new chapter of his career! Good luck, Rufai!”

The transfer comes on the heels of a notable performance by Michael Baidoo, who shone in Elfsborg’s season opener on Monday, contributing a goal and an assist.

Baidoo, alongside other Ghanaian players Jalal Abdulai, Terry Yegbe, and Frank Adjei, who have featured for Elfsborg and Varnamo, highlights the renewed increasing presence and influence of Ghanaian players in the Swedish Allsvenskan.
