We were a bit unlucky against Uganda – Otto Addo

Ghana national team coach Otto Addo spoke after the draw against Uganda, highlighting the need to improve the team ahead of the 2026 Fifa World Cup qualifiers.

The Black Stars drew 2-2 against the Cranes who left it late to share the spoils after falling behind before half time.

Jerome Opoku broke the deadlock in the 6th minute and it got cancelled by Steven Mukwala in the 22nd minute.

Ghana restored their lead when Jordan Ayew netted from the penalty spot in the 27th minute.

However, a goal-mouth scuffle saw Mohammed Shaban finding the leveller in the 82nd minute for the Ugandans.

Speaking after the game, Otto Addo, who is set to leave Dortmund at the end of the season admitted there are a lot of work to be done considering the teams outfit during the international break.

“It was a good learning today, there were some good part. To play 2-2 against Uganda, we expected more even though a lot players were missing.

“I don’t have to say but still we could have done better, a bit unlucky with the two goals against us”

Ghana faces a crucial away 2026 World Cup qualifier against Mali in the neighboring West African nation, followed by another significant match against the Central African Republic back home three days later.

With just three points from two matches, one win and one loss, Ghana currently occupies third place in Group I.
