GPL: New coach Fabin promises a ‘competitive’ Legon Cities, can’t finish 9th again

Newly-appointed Legon Cities head coach, Samuel Paa Kwasi Fabin has assured fans of a competitive performance in the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League (GPL), underscoring the club’s ongoing commitment to uphold its prestigious reputation.

Having recently left Aduana Stars upon the conclusion of the 2022/23 season, Fabin now takes the reins at the Royals.

The seasoned manager aims to steer the club towards nurturing young stars, with a focus on transforming them into a formidable Premier League side.

Despite finishing 9th in the previous season, Fabin is confident that his team will fiercely compete in the forthcoming seasons, thereby safeguarding the team’s esteemed reputation.

“We will be competitive. We will fight for a respectable position. We will protect the club’s reputation.

“Things will have to be different this time round. We can’t finish 9th again. We have to improve the team together and do a lot of work. I have only officially started work on Monday but there are over 100 players who have arrived for justifying at the training grounds,” Fabin announced during his unveiling on Tuesday.

He added: “We will also groom young players and market them as well. We have a clear objective on what we want to do here at Legon Cities FC.”

The kick-off for the new season of the Ghana Premier League is slated for September 15, 2023.
