Yahaya Dawuni: Kotoko announce defender as first signing for 2023/24 season

Highly-regarded defender Yahaya Dawuni has sealed his transfer to record-holding Ghana Premier League (GPL) winners Asante Kotoko.

Arriving from Division One side Akim Tafo Susubiribi, the young centre-back has pledged his future with a three-year contract, marking his place as the first new addition to the Porcupine Warriors’ squad for the 2023/24 season.

On Tuesday, the club released an official statement:

“Asante Kotoko is delighted to announce the signing of centre-back Yahaya Dawuni ahead of the upcoming season. He has penned a contract until 2026.

“Dawuni, 19, who joins from Akim Tafo Susubiribi SC is one of the promising players on the local scene.

“The Black Stars ‘B’ defender becomes Prosper Narteh Ogum’s first signing as the coach puts the team together for his second stint at the club.”

Expressing his excitement, Dawuni said:  “I feel so happy to be here. Kotoko is my dream club and I am honoured to be part of this great family, to be able to dorn the iconic red jersey and also play in front of the loyal supporters at the Baba Yara Stadium.”
