Former Swiss U-19 and Israel women’s national team head coach Nora Häuptle has been appointed Technical Advisor for Ghana’s Black Princesses specifically for the upcoming Costa Rica 2022 Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup.
The 38-year-old is an ex-footballer who played for BSC Young Boys, FFC Zuchwil 05, FC Twente Enschade, FC Thun and the Swiss national team between 1996 and 2010.
Häuptle holds a Uefa Pro coaching license.
She coached the U-19s for her country from 2015 until 2020 after which she took up the coaching job at German women’s side Bundesliga SC Sand where she lasted for 8 months.
The former Swiss Football Association Instructor’s most recent job was with Israel. Taking up the job on a two-year contract in November 2021 as head coach and the first-ever technical director of women’s football in the Asian country.
But Häuptle left the Israel job in under a year and has accepted a short-term role with Ghana’s U-20 female side.
“The Ghana Football Association has appointed Nora Häuptle as the Technical Advisor of the female U-20 team – otherwise known as Black Princesses.
“The former Swiss International who comes in to complement the work of Ben Fokuo is a product of the University of Bern where she attained her Masters in Sports Sciences – also a Bachelor of Philosophy and Minor in Theatre Sciences,” a publication on the GFA website read.
“She is expected to bring on board her rich experience to help the Black Princesses succeed at the Fifa Women’s U-20 World Cup Costa Rica 2022.
“Her contract runs until the end of the Fifa Women’s U-20 World Cup in Costa Rica,” the GFA announcement specified.
U-20 WWC: Ghana’s Princesses set for two-week training camp in Europe
The Black Princesses will be stepping up preparations for the World Cup with two-week camping in Europe beginning July 15. Though the destination remains under wraps, the GFA has confirmed a France friendly for the team at Clairefontaine on Friday July 29 – a day before they finalize the training camp and head out for Costa Rica.
Ghana are housed in a tough Group D with the USA, Japan and the Netherlands for the 16-team World Cup scheduled for August 10-28.
