GPL: Bechem whip 10-man WAFA, AshGold hold Dwarfs

WAFA SC’s poor away form continued on match day 10 as Bechem United beat the Academy boys 2-0 at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park on Sunday.

The hosts scored in either half through Aminu Mohammed and Francis Afriyie.

Defender Kennedy Boateng was sent off after bringing down his man in the penalty area just about the 20th minute mark, an offense which saw him receiving the marching orders.

Former Kotoko midfielder Aminu Mohammed stepped up and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Razak Abalora and returned to set up Bechem’s doubler in the second half.

Aminu’s free-kick in the 59th minute found the head of Francis Afriyie whose goal ensured the hosts bagged their fourth win in 10 games.

Bechem Utd now lie 10th on the log with 13 points.

At the Robert Mensah Stadium, league Champions AshantiGold managed to hold their hosts Ebusua Dwarfs to a 1-1 stalemate.  Fuseini Nuhu shot the Miners into a first half lead but Michael Insaidoo who replaced Romeo Agban in the second half found the equalizer for the coach J.E Sarpong side.

Dwarfs lie bottom of the table with 9 points just as Inter Allies who found luck in an Isaac Baah own-goal to draw 1-1 with Techiman City at the Tema Stadium. Ebenezer Agyapong had given the GPL debutants an initial lead.
