Promising WAFA forward Samuel Tetteh has apologized to fans after getting sent off in his side’s 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak in the Ghana Premier League on Wednesday.
The 20-year-old was shown his marching orders for a second yellow card offense after a confrontation with a red cross official resulted in the player allegedly hitting the official. Tetteh has refused to speak into details what ensued but says he didn’t assault the official.
Tetteh who was cautioned earlier in the game for a needless tackle on Robin Gnagne left referee Samuel Gyasi with no option than to show him the exit after the incident but apologises to his fans and Ghanaians for being sent off in the game.
“I want to apologise to my fans for what happened today [Wednesday]. It wasn’t my intention to get a red card. I know they are disappointed but I want to say sorry to be missing the team’s next game against Dwarfs” Tetteh said after the game.
The Black Stars winger who has been invited into the home-based Stars squad will miss his side’s week 9 home match at Sogakope against Ebusua Dwarfs. He has recorded four goals already in the league and revealed what makes him perform and score more from his position.
“I started playing in the midfield but I started playing from the wings in the U20 and it worked for me. I am not a typical striker but I can operate as one. My secret is hard training, I train very hard and it builds my speed which is my strength” he disclosed.
WAFA scored first in the game through Charles Boateng before Cosmos Dauda equalized for Hearts of Oak, resulting in a draw at the Accra Sports Stadium.
