GPL: Dauda revels in Kotoko victory over Dreams

Asante Kotoko forward Dauda Mohammed has hailed his side’s 1-0 victory away to Dreams FC on Wednesday.

Prior to the game, the Ghana Premier League debutants had made the Dawu Park but eventually had their home record broken by the porcupines in the match day 8 fixture. This is the first away win and goal for Kotoko, a clear pointer to their poor start to this year’s campaign.

The young striker who scored the only goal to separate the two sides in the first minute of the game owes the victory to the team’s determination and confidence after their consecutive GPL and FA Cup successes over Liberty Professionals and Tumu Real 24 hours.

“I’m very excited for this victory because coming into this game, our position on the league log wasn’t deserving for Kumasi Asante Kotoko. So we came into the game into the game very confident because we had won our last two games,” Dauda told reporters after the game.

Dauda who was ruled out in the early parts of the season due to an ankle injury believes this is a good result that can define their season.

“Our aim was to get the three maximum points and we have achieved that. We didn’t start the season well and this is our first victory away. I am happy,” he continued.

Kotoko by virtue of the win now lie 8th on the Ghana Premier League table with 11 points, 6 points behind leaders Wa All Stars and four behind second-placed Hearts of Oak.

The Porcupines play New Edubiase on Saturday at the Baba Yara Stadium in Week 9 of Ghana Premier League. The game will be telecast live on Supersport TV.
