“Cut down on the tricks” – Latif Blessing urged

Head coach of Liberty Professionals George Lamptey is cautioning enterprising attacker Latif Blessing to cut down on selfish football and learn from Lionel Messi.

The diminutive Liberty Professionals midfielder has had a blistering start to the season, having already scored 5 times. He followed up his brace against AshantiGold with another goal against Kotoko in their 3-1 loss on Sunday.

However, the goal was about the only impressive thing about Blessing’s game against the Porcupine Warriors who kept him quiet all afternoon.

Lamptey also believes the teenager paid too much attention to his tricks and flicks to the detriment of the team and has urged him to take a leaf out of Messi’s book and play for the team.

“He overdid things. As skillful as he is, he has to contribute to team play so we all can benefit from his play,” Lamptey said after the Kotoko game.

“Because of his skill, he’s always a target. I tell him all the time to watch Messi. Messi is very skillful but he doesn’t keep the ball all to himself. He plays neat one-two passes. Blessing needs to play like that. He can do his skills when he’s one-on-one in the attacking third,” Lamptey added.

Liberty Professionals will host Berekum Chelsea in their next league game.
