2016 AWC: Ghana maul Tunisia to seal qualification

Ghana’s senior female football team, the Black Queens, thumped Tunisia 4-0 on Tuesday to complete a 6-1 aggregate scoreline to book their ticket to the 10th edition of the African Women’s Cup of Nations in Cameroon.

Striker Samira Suleiman opened the scoring in the 26th minute with a free header from a Portia Boakye corner kick.

Six minutes later Boakye made it two after interceptinf a ball from Rania Aouina before releasing a sweet shot from 25 yards to record Ghana’s second goal.

The first half ended two nil.

Tunisia showed some well rehearsed tactics but never yielded any result till Priscilla Adobea made it three with a solo effort on the 75h minute. Adobea dribbled through several legs before cooly registering Ghana’s third.

Forward Samira Suleiman returned on the score sheet with her brace seven minutes from time as she banged home Ghana’s 4th goal from a sweet volley at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The Black Queens who secured a 2-1 victory in the first leg in Tunis have thus qualified on a 6-1 aggregate. Ghana will participate in the 8-team African Championship scheduled for Cameroon from November 19 to December 3 later this year.
