GPL: Late Bright Adjei stunner earns Aduana draw at AshGold

AshantiGold’s hopes of cruising to a slim victory over Aduana Stars was dashed by a very late stunning effort from young forward Bright Adjei as the two sides shared honors at the Len Clay Stadium Saturday.

The two sides ended the clash 1-1 with the Miners having taken the lead through a converted penalty by Emmanuel Osei Baffour a minute before half time break.

The visitors were dealt a blow when referee Cecil Fleischer controversially signaled to the spot after Godfred Saka had deflected a cross with his shoulder in the penalty area.

Osei Baffour stepped up and planted the ball past goalkeeper Stephen Adams despite getting the direction of his kick. 1-0.

AshGold’s quest to put the game beyond Aduana in the second half failed to work as the visitors fought hard to contain their hosts while posing their own threats.

Experienced forward Yahaya Mohammed was in his ‘profligate best’ as he squandered several scoring opportunities.

Late on, Bright Adjei who had come on for Zakaria Mumuni in tue second half produced a world class bicycle-kick to pull level for Cioaba Aristica’s men.

After getting knocked out of the CAF Champions League, Ashgold are yet to pick a win in the league. They have drawn all their four matches played so far. A goalless draw against  Berekum Chelsea and Asante Kotoko, a 1-1 draw against Sekondi Hasaacas last week and this afternoon’s draw with Aduana have followed their match day one victory over Medeama SC.

The league champions are now 5th on the league log with seven pints whiles Aduana posit at 13th with four points.
