Kotoko 1-0 Hasaacas: Boateng strike earns porcupines first win

A second half strike by Kwame Boateng has handed the porcupine warriors their first win of the 2015/2016 Premier League season.

Coming into this game, Kotoko were winless in four league matches, having amassed only two from a possible twelve. But will brief a sigh of relief after recording a 1-0 win over Sekondi Hasaacas on a rainy night at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The home side made their intentions clear right from the start of the game, amidst the rains, pilled pressure on the visiting team.

Five minutes into the first half, former Kotoko goalkeeper, George Owu, had to pull off a splendid save to deny striker Dauda Mohammed from opening the scoring.

The rains kept on pouring whiles Kotoko also kept on dictating pace but had only the goalkeeper to beat.

The visitors were left blunt in attack and never seem to threaten the home side as defenders Ahmed Adams and Osei Agyemang tightly held dangerous Eric Bekoe at bay.

Defenders of Hasaacas were called to duty in the 37th minute to block a shot from Kwame Boateng. They held on tight as the first half ended goalless.

Kotoko continued from where they left in the first by taking the game to the throat of Hasaacas once again. Sensational Michael Yeboah was substituted six minutes into the second half for Obed Owusu.

Hasaacas Coach Yusif Basigi, on the other side, made a counter substitution as he brought on Suleman Ibrahim for ex-Kotoko winger Fatawu Mohammed.

Kwame Boateng once again had a glorious opportunity to open the scoring in the 58th minute when he danced through the defenders of Hasaacas but could only skew his shot wide.

Sensing danger, the away side resorted to delays but could not delay Kwame Boateng’s goal for the Porcupine Warriors on the 72nd minute mark.

The new signing from Great Olympics cut in from the left side before letting loose with his right booth on the edge of the area. George Owu this time could do nothing to stop the ball from entering his net. 1-0.

Nerves seemed to have calmed down on the part of Kotoko as Hasaacas began to put strings of passes together for a possible comeback. They soon had their first incursion on goal but it was equally dealt with by goalkeeper Ernest Sowah who had been on holiday throughout the 90 minutes.

The game ended one zero in favour of the home side with Osei Agyemang of Kotoko picking the Man of The Match Award.
