GPL: Hayford’s absence won’t affect us – C.K. Akunnor

Head Coach of Dreams FC, C.K. Akunnor has said the team will not be affected by the absence of influential midfielder Emmanuel Hayford when they host Wa All Stars in a match day 4 fixture on Saturday.

Hayford received the marching orders when they drew two all with Inter Allies at the Tema Park last Sunday.

With his experience in the local scene and exploits so far for Dreams, Hayford’s absence is expected to create a big vacuum in the midfield of the Kweiman-based side.

But Akunnor has different ideas to keep the team moving and keep up with the winning mentality.

“It is always difficult to replace key players like him [Emmanuel Hayford]. I will manage it. We always have plan ‘B’. I think it will be improper not to have plan ‘B’.”

“He is a key man but we can easily replace him and I hope any other person who is given the chance to play that role will do it well, so that when he is coming back he will have to fight to get the position back,” he told the club’s website.

Emmanuel Hayford is suspended for the next four games of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League according to the Disciplinary Committee. The club has announced it will not contest the ruling at the Appeals Committee.
