The Black Princesses of Ghana have been handed a ‘group of death’ draw for the 8th edition of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup which will be hosted by Papua New Guinea.
The competition which will kick start on the 13th of November 2016 will see 16 countries battle out till the 3rd of December 2016.
At the group stage, Ghana will be facing two powerhouses in the tournament – the U.S.A, who won the maiden edition of the competition in 2002 and two subsequent trophies in 2008 and 2012 and France, the 2014 bronze medalists. Also, New Zealand who sealed their berth through an impressive performance during the qualifiers fill up the space in Group C.
The Princess will open their 5th World Cup outing against New Zealand at the 25,000 capacity Sir Hubert Murray Stadium in Port Moresby on November 14.
They face France at the same venue on November 17 before completing the group games with the U.S.A at the National Football Stadium on November 21.
Meanwhile, Nigeria who were the losing finalists in the last edition have also been drawn in Group B against Spain, Canada and Japan
Hosts Papua New Guinea comes up against Brazil on the opening day of the competition, before games against Korea DPR and Sweden.
Defending Champions Germany will be facing Venezuela, Mexico and Korea Republic.
