GPL: Asante Kotoko vs Sekondi Hasaacas Preview

Asante Kotoko will host Sekondi-based Hasaacas in the first fixture of the Ghana Premier League match day five round of games this evening. Kick-off is at exactly 6pm.

Kotoko, through all the turmoil since match day one have resolved to pick their first win of the season. The club on Monday held a crisis meeting at the secretariat to help find solutions to their poor situation.

Anything apart from a win won’t go down well with the supporters since a section are already calling for the head of the coach David Duncan and Opoku Nti, head of the Management team.

Kotoko holds the majority of wins in their clashes with Hasaacas.  Both have played each other 77 times since 1958. The Porcupine Warriors hold the lion’s share with 41 victories, 15 draws and lost 21 times.

From when Ghana adapted the Premier League status in 1993, there have 24 meetings with Hasaacas winning only one while the Red Devils have 14 wins and 9 drawn games, scoring 35 and allowing in 34 goals.

On match day five encounters, Kotoko has played eight (8) times, won five, drawn one and lost two since 1999. They have scored 14 times and conceded four times.

Hasaacas on the other hand have played four times, winning just one, drawn one and lost two. They have also scored one and conceded two goals.

They have been unimpressive in their league travels, recording just two wins in 12 attempts, lost nine and drawn one. Again, the “Doo Boys” have conceded eight goals in their last two away matches in the league.

With four matches played already, Kotoko place 14th on the league log with two points whiles Hasaacas occupy the 12th position with four points.

Eric Bekoe, a former player of Asante Kotoko will be meeting his former employers and has vowed not to celebrate if he scores against his darling club.

The match will be telecast live on SuperSport TV.
