Defender Gideon Baah tasted defeat in his debut for New York Red Bulls in a pre-season friendly.

In a very competitive friendly encounter, the Red Bulls were beaten 3-2 by Orlando City at the ChampionsGate Sports Complex and the Ghanaian played a part in his side’s loss. This was the first preparatory game ahead of the 2016 Major League Soccer (MLS) season for Baah and the Red Bulls look forward to winning subsequent ones.

Ricardo Kaka took the lead in the 23rd minute for the Lions before Bradley Wright-Phillips drew level for the Red Bulls two minutes later. Kemar Lawrence gave New York the lead before half time but the Lions equalized 17 minutes into the second period. Orlando City went ahead to win the game with just five minutes remaining courtesy a Pedro Ribeiro strike.

The former Asante Kotoko defender, who joined the MLS side from HJK Helsinki in Finland was substituted by Aaron Ray Long after the first half and is expected to keep his first team slot when the Red Bulls engage UCF and Toronto FC on Saturday at the Omni Resort.

Baah joined Lloyd Sam to play in the MLS for The New York Red Bulls on a transfer deal from HJK last week.
