Kotoko legend George Kennedy backs Ogum to stay

George Kennedy believes Dr Prosper Narteh Ogum should remain Asante Kotoko despite struggles

There’s no doubt that Kotoko are in the midst of a very difficult moment. Sunday’s humiliating defeat at the hands of Nations FC in the Ghana Premier League was a very dark moment for the Porcupines, and it has been reported that head coach Ogum’s job could be on the line.

For now, at least, Ogum will remain in charge, as he continues to have the backing of IMC.

George Kennedy pointed out that a quick resolution needs to be made for the chaotic run of form as well as understanding the agitation of the supporters to dismiss the manager.

“This thing has not happened to Kotoko before. But like we go by the name Kum apem aa apem beba Kotoko is down. The situation is undesirable that we all we don’t want to be in that situation but it has happened to us,” he told 3Sports

“We have to start working at the challenge and I think maybe Kotoko can bounce back to its normal terrain so we have started speaking to the players one on one at the same time, we are talking to the technical team also. We want Kotoko to bounce back so everything that we have to do for Kotoko to come back we will do it,” Kennedy added.

Kotoko have lost their last four Ghana Premier League games on a run, 10 points away from leaders Samartex and are trailing rivals Hearts of Oak on the league log.

There’s little doubt that a big reaction is needed from Kotoko, and they will hope that it comes next weekend when they travel to take on Bechem United.
