Osei Owusu brace as Samartex ends Hearts of Oak five-game unbeaten run

Samartex ended Hearts of Oak’s five-game unbeaten run with an epic 2-1 victory at the Nsenkyire Park on match-week 23 of the Ghana Premier League.

The league leaders in search of a win to continue their pursuit for the title, backed by their fans at home on a Saturday afternoon, displayed quality to beat the Phobians who have enjoyed a solid run in recent times.

Hearts have now lost 5 games in the top-flight while the triumph extends Samartex their wins to 13 after 23 league games.

Evan Osei Owusu with the powerful header in the 25th minute, broke the deadlock for the hosts.

Despite playing well in attack, Hearts of Oak had to wait till the 80th minute for the equalizer through Hamza Issah’s effort. This was Issah’s first game since his injury back in February.

But that would not last as Samartex restored their lead again in the 90th minute from Evans Osei Owusu again via a well-curled strike from outside the box.

Samartex is still leading the League with 42 points, while Hearts of Oak is holding onto their 7th position with 32 points.

The leaders host Medeama at Nsenkyire Park and Hearts of Oak play Bibiani Gold Stars at home in the next round of matches.
