We chose Otto Addo because of a strong winning mentality – Kojo Addae-Mensah

Black Stars Head Coach’s Search Committee member, Kojo Addae-Mensah has explained their decision for submitting Otto Addo to the Ghana Football Association for the role.

Addo’s reappointment as the head coach of Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars was met with a lot of mixed reactions from Ghanaians.

The decision comes after a rigorous selection process that saw over 100 applications vying for the prestigious role.

In an interview with Kumasi-based Luv FM, Addae-Mensah shed light on the factors that led to Addo’s appointment.

“There were over 100 applications but Otto Addo impressed me,” he revealed.

“He proved to me that he knew the team and demonstrated what he would have done differently.”

Addae-Mensah highlighted Addo’s extensive coaching experience, dating back to 2007 at Hamburg, as a key factor in the decision-making process.

“The qualification to the World Cup for me was a big deal and that was critical in proving that he has a winning mentality,” he explained.

Under the terms of his appointment, Addo has secured a 34-month deal, with the potential for an additional 24 months if he delivers results on the field.

This long-term commitment underscores the faith placed in Addo’s ability to lead the Black Stars to success on the international stage.

In a bold move, Addo has already unveiled a 26-man squad for upcoming friendly games against Nigeria and Uganda later this month in Morocco.
