GPL: Aduana Stars vs Hearts of Oak PREVIEW

Aduana Stars will host league leaders Hearts of Oak in a top-of-the-table clash in a match day 13 fixture at the Dormaa Park on Sunday. 

Hearts lead the league table with 24 points followed by Aduana who are just two points behind. A win for the Phobians will see them stretch their lead at top to five likewise the home side will topple the visitors if they end up winning.

Both clubs have been enjoying a purple patch in the league in recent matches.

Aduana has won five (5) out of their six (6) matches played at home, scoring 13 and conceding only one (1). In addition, they boast of being the highest scoring club in the league with 18 goals and again among clubs to concede fewer goals, eight (8).

Ahead of the clash, former Asante Kotoko winger, Richard Mpong has openly predicted the scores and declared massive win for the home side.

“The preparation towards the match won’t be anything different from other matches. It’s a normal match,” the winger told Kumasi-based Ashh FM.

“I see Hearts as a strong side. They have a good team but we have prepared very well for them.

“The Coach [Cioaba Aristica] has brought a lot of changes to the club after we started on a poor note. It’s all about hard work, listening to our coach and extrinsic motivation from outside that is propelling us.

“We will beat them. We will beat them by two goals to nil.” 

Hearts on the other side will be making their third visit to the Brong Ahafo Region after drawing one and winning one of the previous two matches played. The league leaders are yet to concede defeat in six (6) matches played as guest to other clubs.

They have won four (4) and drawn two (2), scored eight (8) and conceded three (3).

Captain of the side, Robin Gnagne called for fans support when asked about the match.

“We are learning. We need to learn more and improve more so that in our next match we can perform much better,” the Ivorian told Kumasi-based Boss FM.

“At least we know they [fans] are happy. They should continue praying for us so we can deliver and continue making them happy.”

The two clubs have met on 12 occasions in the league. The Phobians hold the bragging rights with the most wins with five (5) victories, lost two (2) and drawn five (5) – Out of the 17 goals produced, the home side has scored seven (7) and allowed in ten (10).

Hearts of Oak’s last six (6) visits to the Dormaa Park have resulted in two (2) draws, two (2) victories and a loss.

Aduana, generally, are unbeaten in their last five matches in the league. They have ended up picking all the 15 points up for grasp.
