Exactly a fortnight before the Algeria 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) kicks off, Ghana have been forced to invite two players to their Egypt training camp.
Midfield duo Suraj Seidu (Hearts of Oak) and Maxwell Arthur (Dreams FC) were in coach Annor Walker’s 40-man provisional squad but missed out on the 25 that got listed for the trip to Cairo on Christmas Eve.
Although striker Bright Adjei and wing forward Evans Osei Wusu were supposed to travel as members of the Black Galaxies squad ahead of the tournament specialized for players in their domestic leagues, they were unable to do so due to what Footy-Ghana.com gathers as withdrawals to explore potential January transfers.
Suraj and Arthur were therefore invited to replace them.
The latest update on the Ghana FA website reads:
“Suraj Seidu and Maxwell Arthur have teamed up with the Black Galaxies at their team base in Cairo, Egypt.
“The two players arrived in Cairo in the early hours of Friday, December 30…
“Coach Annor Walker handed call-ups to the two players following the inability of Bright Adjei and Evans Osei Wusu to join the team for the pre-tournament camping in Egypt,” it read in part.
The 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) is scheduled for January 13 to February 4, 2023. Ghana is pooled in Group C where they will face Madagascar, Sudan and Morocco.
