Official: Didi Dramani takes over as Black Galaxies head coach

Mas-Ud Didi Dramani has officially been appointed as the head coach of the home-based Ghana senior national team, known as the Black Galaxies.

The 57-year-old takes the helm from Annor Walker, who guided the team to a quarterfinal finish at the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Algeria earlier this year.

This appointment comes with a clear mandate to lead the Black Galaxies throughout the qualifiers for the next edition of the CHAN tournament. Even before his announcement to the public by the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Didi has wasted no time in getting to work, having called up a substantial pool of players for a rigorous team selection process a few months ago.

Currently affiliated with the Right To Dream Academy, Didi Dramani is highly respected within Ghanaian football circles. He also serves as a Senior GFA/Caf Instructor and Assessor of Coaches and holds the position of first assistant coach for the men’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

Didi Dramani’s coaching career has seen notable achievements, including leading Ghana to a Bronze medal at the 2012 Fifa U-17 Women’s World Cup in Azerbaijan and achieving a historic domestic double (Premier League and FA Cup) with Asante Kotoko in 2014.

In related developments, Samuel Boadu has stepped down from his position as head coach of the Ghana U-20 male team to join Didi Dramani’s revamped backroom staff. Alongside former RTU boss Baba Nuhu, Boadu will assume the role of assistant coaches, further strengthening the coaching team for the Black Galaxies.

Didi Dramani’s appointment heralds a new chapter for the Black Galaxies, as they aim to build on their recent CHAN performance and make a strong showing in future competitions.
