Ghana international Jordan Ayew has clinched the coveted title of Crystal Palace cinch Player of the Month for the month of August, winning a closely contested poll among the club’s supporters.
In recognition of his outstanding contributions, the forward emerged victorious with 29.7% of the fans’ votes. His performance in the opening four games of the 2023/24 English Premier League season earned him this accolade.
Among his notable achievements, Ayew was instrumental in creating three crucial assists. He provided the setup for Odsonne Edouard’s match-winning goal on the opening day of the season against Sheffield United, delivered a key assist for Joachim Andersen’s equalizer at Brentford, and contributed to Edouard’s goal that initiated a memorable comeback against Plymouth Argyle.
Ayew’s remarkable efforts outshone his fellow teammates, with Joachim Andersen securing second place with 20.4% of the votes, and Ebere Eze taking third place with 18.9%. Jefferson Lerma closely followed with 17.6% of the votes.
Speaking with Palace TV, Ayew expressed his gratitude, saying, “It’s been a while – a very long time since I’ve gotten a trophy as well! I’d just like to thank everyone – the fans, the club, and the staff – for supporting me since Roy [Hodgson] has come in.”
He also praised his manager, Roy Hodgson, for providing him with the freedom to express himself on the field. Ayew emphasized his commitment to making a difference in every game and looked forward to maintaining his positive form throughout the season.
