Ghanaian side, Medeama SC overcame Guinean giants Horoya AC with a 3-1 triumph in the 2023/24 CAF Champions League playoffs at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The win serves as an important stepping stone in their challenge for the group stage spot in the continent’s top flight tourney.
Coach Evans Adotey trusted Black Stars duo Jonathan Sowah and Hamidu Fatawu to start for the Yellow and Mauves.
Despite a lively performance from both teams in the first half, neither side could get on the scoresheet.
In the second half, attacker Nana Kofi Babil broke the deadlock in the 58th minute for Medeama.
Later in the 65th minute, Nurudeen Abdulai also found the back of the net of Horoya AC to double the lead for the hosts.
