Two-time Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions, Aduana FC, have officially announced Joachim Yaw Acheampong as their new head coach.
The decision comes in the wake of an extensive search for a new trainer, initiated after the expiration of coach Paa Kwasi Fabin’s one-year contract in 2022, leaving the Nana Agyeman Badu I Stadium team in need of fresh guidance.
Among the notable contenders linked to the coveted position were Samuel Boadu, a former coach of Hearts of Oak, and Yaw Preko, a former Ghanaian international, both highly regarded within the country’s football landscape.
However, after careful consideration and negotiation, the Fire club settled on the seasoned 49-year-old former Real Sociedad player, Joachim Yaw Acheampong, as their choice for the role.
The club made the announcement on Tuesday, with no significant further details:

Acheampong, who holds a Caf License A certification, brings a wealth of experience to his new position. His familiarity with the Ghana Premier League is underscored by his previous coaching stints with AshantiGold, Elmina Sharks and Techiman Eleven Wonders.
Additionally, he has contributed his expertise as an assistant coach at the reigning league champions, Medeama SC.
As Aduana FC looks to embark on a fresh chapter and recapture their former glory, coach Joachim Yaw Acheampong’s appointment is expected to infuse renewed vigor and strategic direction into the team’s endeavours. They disappointingly finished second in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League after sitting on top of the standings for most parts of the season.
