Asante Kotoko secure top defender Henry Ansu in three-year deal

Ghana Premier League (GPL) big boys Asante Kotoko have officially announced the addition of defender Henry Ansu to their ranks, securing his services from Berekum Chelsea.

The 24-year-old centre-back has committed to the Porcupine Warriors until 2026, having inked a three-year contract with the club.

Ansu’s prowess has shone brightly in Ghana’s elite division, amassing an impressive total of 7,000 minutes of action across 84 league games for the Bibires since the 2019/20 season. His outstanding contributions continued in the 2022/23 campaign, where he featured in 23 matches and earned the man-of-the-match award twice.

In his first interview as a member of Asante Kotoko, Ansu expressed his elation, stating, “It’s a dream come true because this is a club that most players dream of as a young player, and I am happy to be one of the lucky few.”

Head coach Prosper Narteh Ogum will be banking on Ansu’s experience to provide stability to the team’s backline. The player enthusiastically embraces the new challenge, recognizing the club’s high expectations from its players.

“It’s a new challenge, and I know this is a club that demands more from players, but I am ready to make a mark and help the team win whatever trophy is available,” the CHAN 2023 Ghana squad member stated.

Henry Ansu has seamlessly integrated into his new environment, joining his fellow teammates for pre-season training at Beposo where Asante Kotoko are diligently preparing for the upcoming 2023/24 campaign.
