Official: Maxwell Konadu quits Legon Cities

Coach Maxwell Konadu is no longer in the employment of Legon Cities, the Ghana Premier League (GPL) club has announced.

After finishing his second season as technical director of the Accra-based club, the 50-year-old tendered his resignation.

Konadu’s departure has been widely anticipated following a season fraught with obstacles, particularly financial ones.

On Wednesday, the club issued the following statement:

“Maxwell Konadu has left Legon Cities FC after tendering in his resignation.”

“We would to like to thank Maxwell for his efforts throughout his time at Legon Cities. We wish him all the best for the next stage of his professional career,” it added.

Konadu joined Cities in 2021 after a disappointing second stint with local giants Asante Kotoko.

At Legon Cities, the experienced gaffer oversaw 66 games, winning 23, drawing 22, and losing 21.

Konadu led the Royals to the MTN FA Cup quarterfinals and a 9th-place finish in the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League.
