Captain Bright Adjei scored the goals as Aduana FC defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1 in their 2022/23 Ghana Premier League (GPL) match-day 7 clash Wednesday afternoon.
The Fire Club entered the Borno Derby at Nana Agyeman Badu (NAB) I Stadium on the back of defeat while the visitors had also drawn their last game.
Despite a number of goal-scoring opportunities, it was only in the 42nd minute that the deadlock was finally broken by Adjei.
But free-scoring Mezack Afriyie cancelled the hosts’ lead with his fifth goal of the campaign in the 45th minute.
Aduana went 2-1 up with Adjei doubling his tally for the day in the 56th minute.
The victory lifts Aduana FC to 16 points and top of the standings, albeit temporarily until Accra Lions take on Hearts of Oak on Thursday.
Berekum Chelsea are stuck in 10th position with 9 points after 7 games.
Aduana winger Emmanuel Gyamfi won the man-of-the-match award.
