2022 WCQ: 50,000 fans allowed to watch Egypt vs Senegal in Cairo

Helmi Mashhour, a member of the board of directors of the Egyptian Football Association, said 50,000 fans will be allowed to watch their 2022 World Cup playoff game against Senegal.

The Pharaohs will host the African champions at the Cairo International Stadium on March 23 in the first leg game of playoffs before the return fixture in Senegal six days later.

The two sides faced in the final of the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations earlier this month, where the Teranga Lions defeated the seven-time winners to lift their first-ever title.

“Our country wants the World Cup qualification, we will try to provide everything Queiroz needs,” Mashhour said.

“Queiroz said he wants the game to take place at Cairo International Stadium, so we got the permission for it.

“We are also trying to get the permission for the maximum number of fans allowed to attend the game. For now, a minimum of 50,000 fans will be allowed.”
