Afcon 2017: Cameroon crash Ghana to reach final

Ghana’s long wait for an Africa Cup of Nations title since 1982 has further been extended after they lost 0-2 to Cameroon in the semifinal of the 2017 edition in Franceville Thursday night.

The Indomitable Lions scored both goals in the second half to book their first Afcon final since 2008 and will now face Egypt in Libreville on Sunday.

Defender Michael Ngadeu-Ngadjui at the end of a free-kick from outside the area which saw goalkeeper Razak Brimah who horribly failed to punch the ball away and ostensibly distracted his defender John Boye from making a good header out. Ngadeu took a good control before firing into the net.

As Ghana chased for the equalizer deep into stoppage time committing 9 men upfront, Cameroon hit them with a 2v1 break. Substitute Vincent Aboubakar played in enterprising winger Christian Bassogog who managed to carry the ball forward 30 yards further before flipping it past and indecisive Brimah Razak to complete a well-deserved 2-0 advantage.

Ghana now have to fight for the bronze medal and will head back to Port-Gentil to face Burkina Faso on Saturday.
