The Ghana Football Association has sanctioned a December 18, 2016 date proposed by the Premier League Board (PLB) for the commencement of the 2016/17 Ghana Premier League.
The decision on the date was arrived at following consultations between members of the Football Association’s Competitions Committee as well as an alignment of the fixture dates with the Caf and Fifa calendars.
A statement by the PLB said “registration for the first transfer window of the season will open from November 14th 2016 to February 13th 2017.”
Per tradition, the commencement of the new campaign will be preceded by the season-opening Super Cup between winners of the league and FA Cup champions.
Premier League champions Wa All Stars will face MTN FA Cup winners, Bechem United to determine the “champion of champions”.
The Super Cup will however come off two weeks to the start of the 2016/17 GPL – December 4, 2016.
