AFCON 2017: Ghana to know opponents Wednesday

Ghana will on Wednesday, 19th October 2016 know their group opponents for the Total Africa Cup of Nations Gabon 2017 when the draw is held in Libreville.

The senior national team, the Black Stars are among countries in Pot 1 with host Gabon, 2015 champions Cote D’Ivoire and North Africans Algeria.

A contingent from the Ghana Football Association is expected to be at the ASMG Tent in Stade de l’Amitie in Libreville, the capital town of Gabon at 19H00 local time (16H00 GMT).

Ghana could be drawn with either Tunisia, Mali, Burkina Faso, DR Congo who are all seeded in Pot 2 and also one of the countries in Pot 3 which includes West Africans Cameroon and Senegal, Morocco and seven time champions of the AFCON Egypt.

  • The last country in the group would be from Togo, Uganda, Zimbabwe, Guinea Bissau who are in Pot 4.

The final tournament will be held from 14 January to 5 February 2017 in the Gabonese cities of Libreville, Franceville, Oyem-Bitam and Port-Gentil.
