Hearts relegate coach Traguil to Auroras

Hearts of Oak have directed trainer Sergio Daniel Traguil to revert to his original position of appointment, the club’s youth team.

The Portuguese joined the club two months ago but his arrival coincided with the departure of Japanese-American Kenichi Yatsuhashi who was then head coach of the Phobians.

Traguil was subsequently made to fill the gap created but his reign has seen the club’s fortunes and title-winning chances in the Ghana Premier League dwindle significantly.

“He [Sergio Traguil] has been reassigned to Auroras [Under-20 team] with immediate effect,” club spokesperson Opare Addo confirmed to ghonetv.com.

Asked what could have informed this new directive, Opare Addo explained “that is where he was initially brought in to be and that aside we want to be able to build a strong youth team. We all know that the youth is his specialized area.”

Assistant coach Yaw Preko now takes charge for the final three matches of the season.

“From tomorrow [Wednesday], Yaw Preko takes charge as the first team coach.

“With the first team, we think we need to get certain results and we believe Yaw Preko should be able to get it done.

Preko’s immediate task will be after the international break when Hearts of Oak hosts Ebusua Dwarfs in Accra on September 11. He will complete the 2015/16 with games against Medeama SC and New Edubiase United at home and away respectively.
