Ex-GPL top scorer questions Grant’s call-ups

The 2014/15 Ghana Premier League top scorer, Kofi Owusu has questioned the call-ups made by Coach Avram Grant for the AFCON qualifiers.

The former Berekum Chelsea striker on his Facebook page asked whether the two top scorers in the league; Yahaya Mohammed of Aduana Stars (14 goals) and Latif Blessing of Liberty Professionals (13 goals) are not Ghanaians and sought for answers as to why they have been snubbed.

The Black Stars coach on Tuesday handed a late call to Asante Kotoko forward Dauda Mohammed as a replacement for Sion’s attacker Ebenezer Asifuah in this weekend’s clash against Rwanda and this might have prompted the questions by the Aswan SC player.

Owusu who made a name for himself last season after becoming the first player to score a hat-trick against Aduana Stars in Week 7, wonders if the snub to the two is because they do not play in big teams.

“So the two top scores in the Ghana premier league , are they not Ghanaians. Or because they are not playing big team that’s why the coach did not call them to the nation team (black stars). I don’t think far. Oh Ghana football hmmmm not easy”

The former King Faisal frontman finished one goal clear of Medeama’s Nathaniel Asamoah, who joined Raja Casablanca in Morocco with two games to end that season.
