Commey cries foul over Grant’s selection

Chief Executive Officer of Aduana Stars, Albert Commey has described as disappointing the squad selection for the Black Stars game against Rwanda.

Coach Avram Grant last week named a 23-man squad to host the Amavubis at the Accra Sports stadium on the 3rd of September in the final qualifier to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations.

The list had only two local based players – Wa All Stars goalie Richard Ofori and Ashantigold’s Kadri Mohammed and this has not gone down well with the member of the organizers of the league.

“It is disappointing because indeed if he wanted to be fair and balance, then he should be able to see all the league matches, if not even all, majority of it or he makes his assistant coach to get him to all venues because the strength of a team at home is different from that of away,” said Commey.

According to the Ghana FA Executive Committee member “Grant rather travels to Europe and look at our players individually but is not able to do that locally.”

“And you could see that they are only taking him through district capitals and the capital cities so if you don’t come to an area like Dormaa, you don’t go to Bekwai and you don’t go to areas that league matches are played over there, how can you see better players?

“Is it just one game that you will use to assess some of the players? You and I know that then it means he’s not doing a good job”.

The Black Stars have already qualified for next year’s tournament having amassed thirteen (13) points so far from 5 games played.
