Atsu on Newcastle radar

English Championship side Newcastle is reported to have inquired about the possibility of securing the services of Ghana international Christian Atsu.

Atsu, who is yet to make his senior debut for Chelsea after signing for the ‘Blues’ in 2013, is also chased by Italian side Torino, who are keenly monitoring situations for a possible swap.

The 24-year-old has fallen off the pecking order at the Stamford Bridge and has been told he is not in the plans of new manager Antonio Conte.

The Black Stars regular spent last season on-loan with AFC Bournemouth and Spanish outfit Malaga scoring two goals.

Newcastle boss Rafael Benitez is seeking to fill the void created by their winger Rolando Aarons after fracturing his metatarsal and will be on the sidelines for eight weeks – joining Florian Thauvin, Andros Towsend and Remy Cabella on the injury list.

Atsu has made 42 appearances for Ghana Black Stars, scoring nine goals.
