Asamoah ready for Serie A takeoff

Ghana international Kwadwo Asamoah says he is fit to start the Italian Serie A season on Saturday.

The Juventus midfielder has battled a series of injuries in the last two seasons, affecting his output for the Bianconerri over the period.

The 27-year-old, however, seems to have shrugged off his niggling knee injury, having featured in three of five games for the Turin-based club in preseason.

“It was almost two years since I did preparations with the team,” Asamoah told Sky Sports.

“Now I’ve done it, I also played friendly matches and I’m happy.

“I missed the chance to play with my mates. When you have problems and you cannot have continuity a bit of concern there.”

“I was not afraid of not returning, but the fact that [I] cannot always train.

“Now I’m ready to play, both as a midfielder or as an external, depending on what the coach wants.”

“The sensations are good. The preparation has gone well and we are ready to start the championship.”

Asamoah joined Juventus from Udinese in 2012 and has scored four league goals since then.
