GPL match day 25 Preview: All set for top of the table clash as title race gets keener

Matchday 25 of the Ghana Premier League gets into full gear on Wednesday with eight matches on the horizon.

Edging closer to the end of the season, week 25 sees the top four clubs pair each other as the title race heads for the homestretch.

Leaders All Stars welcome Hearts of Oak to the Wa Park after the Northern Blues’ defeat to Dwarfs on Saturday. A point below All Stars and one better than fourth-positioned Kotoko, second-placed Hearts of Oak will need to up the ante to get anything from the Malik Jabir Park following their poor away form in the second round.

Another top four clash will be seen at the Baba Yara Stadium where Kotoko host Aduana Stars. After successive wins in their last two games, Kotoko are favorites on the day, having also niether lost nor conceded against Aduana in Kumasi.

Medeama have to honour their fixture as visitors to Bechem United at the Nana Fosu Gyeabour Park, before a trip to Algeria on Thursday to play their final Caf Confederations Cup group match with MO Bejaia.

Techiman City, on the back of an industrious 1-1 draw with Hearts of Oak on Sunday, host New Edubiase. The Citizens had their home invincibility broken by Dwarfs in their last home match.

Dwarfs, meanwhile, lock horns with Inter Allies away at the Tema Park, having enjoyed an unbeaten run in their last five matches. The latter lost 2-0 to Bechem United away on matchday 24 and are now 15th.

Elsewhere, Chelsea face off with Hasaacas at the Berekum Golden City Park. The two clubs are relegation-threatened.

The Len Clay Stadium will see Ashantigold lock horns with Liberty Professionals, who succumbed to a 2-0 loss at home to Kotoko in week 24. The Miners, with a point from their away match with Dreams on Sunday, are hopeful of a victory, apparently buoyed by the return of coach Bashir Hayford.

The final fixture will be at Sogakope where Wafa play hosts to Dreams FC. With just two points separating the clubs, the game should be an interesting one as both sides have ambitions of finishing among the top four.
