“We paid for our lapses” – Solomon Odwo

Berekum Chelsea coach Solomon Odwo has mentioned that his side paid for momentary loss of concentration in their 2-1 loss to New Edubiase on Sunday.

The home side took the lead through Prince Agyemang on the 54th minute whiles Seth Appiah drew level for Chelsea. Wahab Annan restored Edubiase’s lead in the closing stages of the game to help pick all the three points.

Head coach of the visiting side said, although officiating was not satisfactory on the day, if they had taken their chances it would have ended in a different story.

“We lacked experience. Why will a player carry the ball and put to the goalkeeper’s side?. We have been doing this at the training grounds but they come for match day and forget themselves,” Solomon Odwo said.

“I could see lapses in the attacking side. You could see Sadick Adams was the only one that was showing an experienced play – you could see how the guy worked tirelessness. So I think we’ve seen our problems.”

When asked about how he feels about the results, he said;

“I am very disappointed. We started the game well but did not end well and I think we paid for our lapses. At the later part, we had the opportunity to score the second goal but we failed. From the first half, we created a lot of chances but did not use them very well.

“In a game of football, in times like this in the Premier League, you want three points and in an away match you want all the points, you don’t lose all your chances. So I think we paid for our lapses.”

Berekum Chelsea will host Accra Hearts of Oak in their next league fixture.
