Ghana’s Medeama SC have been handed a tough draw in their debut campaign in the Caf Confederation Cup group stage.
The Mauves and Yellow have been pitted in Group A against Algeria’s MO Bejaia, current Champions League title holders TP Mazembe and Tanzania’s Young Africans, a club coached by their former Dutch trainer Hans van der Pluijm.
Group A, already touted as the “group of death”, has all Medeama’s dropping out of the CAF Champions League.
Medeama will begin their group campaign with a trip to DR. Congo to face TP Mazembe. They next face MO Bejaia at home on June 28.
On July 15, the Tarkwa-based club travel to play Tanzanian champions Young Africans. A reverse of the tie follows 11days later (July 26) at the Essipon Stadium.
Medeama would enjoy playing back-to-back home games on day 5 of the group games – August 12, welcoming TP Mazembe who boast of a Ghanaian quintet in their fold.
The two-time Ghana FA Cup champions would complete their group games on the road to Algeria where they face MO Bejaia who eliminated AshantiGold from the Caf Champions League. The game is set for August 23, 2016.
