Kotoko Board & Management summoned to Manhyia; Duncan expected

The Board and Management of struggling Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are expected to report at the Manhyia Palace, the throne of club owner and life patron Otumfuo Osei Tutu II Monday, footy-Ghana has been informed.

The porcupine warriors were in the news for all the wrong reasons last week after a defeat to Aduana Stars in the Ghana Premier League sent the side bottom of the log – an outcome which also forced the club’s management to order head coach David Duncan to step aside until further notice.

The ‘step aside’ directive did not go down well with the embattled coach whose insistence to continue work resulted in a melodrama last week Tuesday. Duncan reported for duty at the club’s Adako-Jachie training grounds in the morning to meet the absence of his charges who instead, used the Baba Yara Stadium facility under the guidance of interim coach Michael Osei.

The Asantehene’s surprise appearance at the training grounds later in the afternoon appears to have worked magic for the porcupine warriors as they went on to beat Liberty Professionals 3-1 on Sunday.

Monday’s meeting, insiders say, could see some drastic decisions taken by ownership.

Footy-GHANA.com is also vaguely informed that one of issues that could be discussed closed doors will be the future of estranged coach David Duncan. It is understood that the Board cum Management may inform the coach a severance package for him to cut ties with the club.

Footy-GHANA understands that Kotoko Board Chairman lawyer Paul Adu-Gyamfi has already held talks with David Duncan.

Kotoko moved to 9th position after the match day 7 games over the weekend.
