GPL: Liberty decimate champions AshantiGold to go 4th

Liberty Professionals turned on their style Sunday as they thrashed champions AshantiGold 5-1 in a match day 6 fixture of the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League.

Liberty got off the mark at their favourite Carl Reindorf Stadium with two quick goals in 8 minutes through Edward Ebo Mends and Latif Blessing. They kept on with the lead to complete the first half.

Midfielder Anthony Yerful pulled one goal back six minutes into second to give the Miners some hope of a comeback but Blessing  returned to stretch the leas further with his brace and fourth goal of the campaign – 3-1.

Simon Zibo and Bernard Arthur both scored in the 70th and 89th minutes to complete an emphatic 5-1 victory over last season’s league winners.

The scientific soccer were the big winners of the match day 6 round of matches and have now climbed to 4th position on the 16-team league table.
