Ghalca: New boss Fianoo sees tough challenge ahead

The Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) Chairman-elect, Kudjoe Fianoo has said there is a tough challenge ahead of him as he prepares to be sworn into office after winning the elections held on Thursday.

The AshGold boss pulled 63 votes ahead of Isaac Koomson, Kofi Poku and Nana Sarfo Oduro who had 13 votes each out of the 106 votes cast.

The Alhaji Raji-led GHALCA has been hugely criticized for not protecting clubs interest and failing to enact laws and bring out measures to help Premiership clubs most especially.

Fianoo, who has the next four years to steer affairs says he will be sitting down with his team to bring about elaborate measures not only to help Premiership clubs but to cover Division 1, 2 and Colts clubs as well.

“I don’t think there is any excitement. It’s a challenge that you have to come and build this [GHALCA] Association,” Fianoo said.

“I’m not excited. Yes, as a human being I’m happy that I have won but you know that when I look at the challenges ahead, I will say that for now it’s a mixed feeling. I need to ponder over what I need to do, to meet the promises that I have given the delegates.

“The support was overwhelming and I think that shouldn’t get into my head, is rather going to prompt me to work harder,” he added.

“I will not say it in shambles but as the teacher always says, there is more room for improvement. They have done their bit, they could have done better.”

New Edubiase Chief Executive officer Alex Ackumey was elected as vice president after going unopposed.

The new executives will be sworn into office on April 28.
