Adams credits All Stars win over Hearts to hard work

Wa All Stars moved to the top of the Ghana Premier League following an emphatic 3-0 win over giants Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The win halted Hearts of Oak’s impressive run in the domestic top-flight having gone five matches unbeaten. Hearts of Oak had won four and drawn once before the top of the table clash over the weekend, whilst All Stars remain the only unbeaten club in the league after six weeks of action.

Two goals from Kweku Asuandzie Baffoe and Richard Arthur handed the visitors a 2-0 lead before the break. After recess, Musah Ibrahim who scored twice for Hearts of Oak in Tema last weekend to ensure that memorable comeback against Inter Allies netted again to reduce the deficit. But a well taken strike by Emmanuel Ocran later in the game further deepened the woes the home side.

The captain of Wa All Stars, Hafiz Adams tells Footy-GHANA.com via telephone from his Wa base that he and his teammates secured the all-important victory as a results of hard work. According to him his side prepared adequately for the task knowing the challenge ahead.

‘’Last two seasons we beat them home and away. It was something we wanted to repeat so we prepared for it. We take game after game and so we just focused on winning the game because we knew that winning that game we will be the first on the league table, and that was what we did yesterday,’’ he told Footy-GHANA.com

‘’It’s not a bad team but just that we worked hard to defeat them. They are not bad at all.’’

Wa All Stars currently lead the league table with 14 points, one more than Hearts of Oak after six rounds of matches.
