Ghana continued their perfect run in the qualifiers to the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) with a 3-1 victory over Mozambique at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday.

Belgium based winger Frank Acheampong scored first as early as the fifth minute – his second goal for the Black Stars in nine international appearances. He however got injured and had to be substituted by Jeffrey Schlupp at the beginning of the second half.

Twelve minutes into the second half, the Black Stars went up 3-0 courtesy two quick goals from stand-in captain John Boye and Aston Villa striker Jordan Ayew in the 55th and 57th minutes respectively.

The Os Mamabas however pulled one back in the  67th minute through substitute Apson Manjate.

Coach Avram Grant’s men travel to face Mozambique in a reverse fixture on Sunday. A win in Maputo for the Black Stars who have secure nine points from three games automatically earns Ghana a seventh straight Nations Cup qualification.

The 2017 AFCON will be hosted by Gabon.
