Hearts of Oak increase match ticket prices

Accra Hearts of Oak are set to increase prices of match tickets for the club’s home games to enhance the supporters’ contribution to the club.

According to the Chairman of the National Chapters Committee (supporters head), Eric Barima Atuahene, this will help ease the financial burdens of the club in these difficult times.

“Situations are a bit difficult now so we think and we (supporters) must help the team and we can help through gate proceeds. The supporters must make contributions to the club periodically but we deem that not enough so the prices of the gate proceeds have been increased by the club’s leadership,” he told Nhyira FM.

The clubs are financially handicapped as the league is sponsor less and many thrive on gate earnings to survive. The Phobians grossed GH₵ 61,000 in their Ghana Premier League opener against New Edubiase but archrivals, Asante Kotoko on Sunday took home GH₵45,000 after deductions in the club’s first home game against Medeama after hitting a gross of GH₵ 95, 515.

“This is part of the supporters’ contribution to the club because when the team faced difficult moments, she struggled financially until the board chairman released some funds for the club to settle debts and make other payments. We appeal to our supporters to kindly consent to this decision and help the club to progress,” Attuahene who also serves on the Hearts of Oak board further stated.

Under the new ticket pricing system effective from Hearts’ Ghana Premier League Week 4 home game on Sunday against Bechem United, the popular stand goes for GH₵ 10, Centre Line for GH₵ 15, VIP takes GH₵ 20 and VVIP will be priced at GH₵ 25 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
