Match Info:

Game: Techiman City v Aduana Stars

Date: Sunday 6th March, 2016.

Venue: Nana Ameyaw Park, Techiman

Kick-off: 3:00pm

The home side from Techiman, debutants in Ghana’s elite division are keen on proving their worth to participate in the 2015/16 Ghana Premier League. Despite being a new side, Techiman City have recorded a win in their opening league fixtures, a 1-0 win at home to Berekum Chelsea in the first week and a loss last weekend away to Hasaacas at Sekondi by 4-2.

Despite the baptism by Coach Yusif Bassigi’s men into the Premier Division Techiman City have put up a very spirited performance in their first two fixtures indicating a better and improved performance from them in the upcoming fixtures.

In their fold lies Baba Mahama who has spelt doom for the Aduana side in the weekend fixture earlier in the week. Other excellent talents are Roger Nortey, Bright Nsiah and Ibrahim Issaka, an adept on the local scene leading the attack. The side at their fortress will be expecting to continue to impress the fans they have won since coming into the league by recording another victory.

Aduana Stars who are the away side have not been their usual dominant force in this campaign, losing their initial games both home and away. The former league champions suffered a 2-0 first week match loss to Inter Allies at the Tema Park and subsequently fell by a goal to Wa All Stars at their dreaded Osaagyefo Agyeman Badu II Park in Week 2.

The side having spent a lot of money on recruitment, before the season began, all in a bid to secure their second league title have woefully delivered nothing. This is an unpleasant situation for the wounded ‘Fire Boys’ of Dormaa.

Aduana will be hoping for a change in fortunes
Aduana will be hoping for a change in fortunes on Sunday

The side will have to bounce back in a grand style if they would want to maintain their heavyweight status in the league since joining the Premier League in 2010. Not even a goal has been scored by the Dormaa-based club with former Asante Kotoko and Amidaus Professionals forward leading their attack.

Aduana, immersed in a lot of crisis as being reported will be without their head coach Nurudeen Ahmed who resigned after the side suffered two straight defeats. Expected assistant coach to lead the side, Kwabena Ameyaw has also been asked to step aside from the side on claims of inciting players to perform poorly and also the stripping off captaincy from Godfred Saka to Daniel Darkwa.

These major happenings in 7 days is expected to have an effect on the side but with experience and quality players like Godfred Saka, Daniel Darkwah, Joseph Addo, Richard Mpong, Zakaria Mumuni, Noah Martey and Yahaya Mohammed, the Ghana League powerhouse should rise to the occasion and deliver at least a draw to save their earlier blushes.

Prediction;

With the whole citizenry of Techiman expected to rally behind Micky Charles’ side at home and the confidence the new side have gained, it will be a very difficult game for Aduana Stars but with the quality that the Dormaa club has, they are expected to rewrite their scripts and put the in-house fighting to rest.
