GPL: Dreams FC vs Wa All Stars Preview

The Ghana Premier League resumes this weekend with matches slated to take place at seven league centres. The Medeama SC and Dwarfs game will be an outstanding fixture. The Mauve and Yellow are on continental duty away to Al Ittihad in the CAF Confederation Cup this Sunday.

Dreams FC and Wa All Stars open match day 4 with a top-of-the-table clash at the ‘Theathre of Dreams’ – the Dawu Park on Saturday.

Both clubs are on seven points with only goals separating them. All Stars are leading the park whiles Dreams occupies third position with the same number of points.

These two clubs will be meeting for the first time as far as the Ghana League is concern. This is All Stars’ 9th season in the league since their triumphant entry into the elite division in 2007/2008 whiles Dreams play their debut season.

This year could be different since their best finish in the league was placing 6th in the 2009/2010 and 2013/2014 league season, where they ended with 44 and 41 points respectively.

Interestingly, both clubs have two wins and a draw and are yet to concede defeat in their three matches played. This makes their encounter an all to play for since whoever wins goes top of the table pending the results of Hearts of Oak, who is second with the same number of points.

All Stars’ last league match on the road ended in a one zero win against Aduana Stars, ending their 21 unbeaten run in the league. That was their first win in ten (10) league outings. Their last win was a 1-2 win against B.A Stars on the 8th of March 2015 last year. They play as guest once again in the month.

Dreams on the other side have been very impressive from Division one to the Premier League so far. They have lost only one in 17 matches played at home.

The last five league visits for All Stars have ended woefully for the Wa-base side. They have picked only one victory and lost the remaining four, scoring three and conceding eight.

Again, they have kept only one clean sheet in their last five outings.

Dreams will be without their most influential playmaker Emmanuel Hayford, who received a straight red card on match day three game against Inter Allies. But head coach C.K. Akunnor says no fears as he has plans rolled up for his replacement.

All Stars will miss the services of Kofi Yeboah who scored the winner in their clash against Aduana Stars and Abdul G. Ismail through various degrees of injuries.

Two-goal hero Lawson Bekui will seek to continue his impressive shift by increase his tally with another goal(s) before home fans at the Dawu Park. The game kicks off at 3:30pm Saturday.
